The Knight Rider stunt sets
For anyone growing up in the 80s, Knight Rider was up there with the Dukes of Hazzard as one of the most popular TV programmes of the time. It seems only logical then that toy manufacturers were looking to exploit the TV tie-in market in as many ways as they could. As we’ve seen, the Dukes of Hazzard playsets were popular worldwide, so it’s probably not surprising that Hasbro looked at a way of maximising profit without too much extra expenditure. Step forward the Knight Rider playsets. For any Dukes playset fans these will have a strong sense of déjà vu about them. In fact the only differences between the Barnbsuters and Stuntbuster sets are the colours, car and stickers. We should congratulate Hasbro on this great piece of opportunism as it gives Dukes fans another dimension to their collecting, and vice versa for Knight Rider aficionados. For those of us that own both sets we’ve also got the opportunity to allow KITT and the General Lee to enter a parallel universe.
The Knight 2000 Stunt Set
This set is based on the Dukes of Hazzard Stuntbuster, even down to similar artwork on the box. The vivid blue colours give it a strange look when compared to the rural colours of the Dukes set, but all in all it’s a great variation. For more information please also see the Knight Rider Super Stunt Set information.
