Hi I got a question about the general lee car that comes with the barnbuster.I bought an unused set and theres a clear plastic piece on the back of the car.Are you supposed to leave that on there?
Thanks for getting in touch. If this is the clear plastic piece which runs along the bottom of the bumper, yes leave it on. I think this piece is there to stop fibres and hair getting wound around the friction wheels. There’s a nice clear shot of the piece I am talking about at the website link I have given above. I hope that helps. Cheers, James.
Great website Johnny!
I found it while looking for pictures of the Knight Rider version of the barnstormers set that I had as a kid (35+ years ago now). Until I saw your site, I never knew there was originally a Dukes' version!
One overriding memory I had was that with KITT, it was possible to stand him on one rear wheel after revving him up and he would spin around in a circle, leaning outwards onto the cone of the wheel rim. I assume the same could be done with the General. I would often try and make KITT blast through the barn doors like this but he would naturally always get stuck - kids always try and make their toys so something they weren't designed for!
Thanks for your comments and feedback. It was also possible to do the rear wheel trick with the General. It was one of the more impressive tricks to do with the car, but you always had to make sure it was on a flat surface rather than a carpet to make this work.
I'm glad you found the site via the Knight Rider pages. It's always good to know that it's useful to KITT fans as well as Hazzard fans.
